Writing on Wednesday (August 16, 2015)

Writing on Wednesday Badge

Writing on Wednesday is a way to keep this particular writer on track (I hope!). These are weekly posts/updates where I will share something from the past week of writing with the readers of this blog. Sometimes it might be something I’ve learned, found useful, or a bit of my own writing and ideas. I hope this will be a time of sharing, encouragement, and accountability. Join me in setting some writing goals to finish that project and celebrate each success.

Hi everyone,

So sorry that I missed posting one of these last week. But, let me tell you the crazy story about why:

Last tuesday, I had to take one of our cats to the vet. Well, he really didn’t want to go and let me know it by biting me in the hand. I’ve been around cats my whole life and have dealt with scratches (we never get them declawed) but I’m not sure if I’ve ever been bit bad enough that they punctured my skin. Well, this time it happened– 4 punctures at the base of my thumb. Later that afternoon my hand was swollen and hurting quite bad. I probably should have just tried to go to the doctor then, but I’m stubborn sometimes and don’t like to do that unless it is really bad.

Wednesday was just as bad. I called our doctor’s office and they wanted to get me an appointment. My lesson learned: Always get medical care for a cat bite. Apparently they are notorious for infections and on the hand is particularly bad.

Anyways, with my hand being what it was, not much happened that incorporated the use of it last week. Now, it is pretty much back to normal. It is no longer swollen, the redness is gone, and it isn’t even tender.

I’m chalking this up to a learning experience and something to keep in the back of my mind. Might be an interesting memory to call upon to incorporate into a novel sometime.

Anyways, This past week has not seen any writing updates. I’ve been hoping to do a bit more this week, but I’ve been playing catch-up in other areas of life. Next week might be focused on some apple canning. I’m going to continue to hope to spend some writing time in here somewhere, but if nothing else I’ll look forward to making a regular routine out of it soon.

What are your writing goals for the month?
